10 Worst Red Carpet Dresses of 2012

Celebrities sometimes make fashion faux pas on the red carpet. It’s normal. They are people. But it’s still interesting to talk and criticize. So, let’s reveal the 10 worst red carpet dresses of 2011.

#1. Charliz Theron’s pink gown by Christian Dior. I just can’t find the reason why someone would want to wear this design. It’s totally unflattering and the fabric rumples easily. This is the worst dress of 2010. Definitely.

#2. Chanel dress that Kristen Stewart wore to the MET Ball 2010. Very strange option. But Kristen has never been praised for her fashion sense.

#3. Monique Lhuillier’s creation Drew Barrymore donned to Screen Actors Guild Awards 2010. The shape of the gown was very non-typical and hardly fit well the actress’ figure. Besides, the color of the dress didn’t suit Barrymore’s complexion.

#4. Cherries-and-flowers-printed dress Whitney Port sported at Much Music Video Awards 2010. The dress must have cost a fortune and been designed by a great fashion name but it failed to make The Hills star look appropriate at the event.

#5. The dress from Givenchy haute couture collection Zoe Saldana wore to the 2010 Oscars. Colors of the dress didn’t co-ordinate and the Avatar actress looked like a lantern on a Christmas tree.

#6. Jane Goldman’s emerald green gown. The woman appeared wearing the corset dress at the BAFTA 2010. She might have wanted to show off her curves but ended up looking like a big green frog.

#7. Britney Spears’ Dolce & Gabbana garment. It wasn’t actually a dress but it looked horrible. So, it’s on this list.

#8. Daisy Lowe’s Miu Miu dress. The British model wore the weird-looking designer creation to the Elle Style Awards. The dress itself wasn’t the best choice for such a ceremony but teamed with a black printed cardigan and a pair of suede pumps it looked even worse.

#9. Miley Cyrus’s Jenny Packham dress. At the 2010 Oscars Miley wore a chic glitzy dress that was perfect on its own but looked awful on the girl.

#10. Nikki Reed’s dress at MTV Movie Awards 2010. The Twilight star looked too casual. Didn’t have time to find a more glamorous design?

Colour blocking in bold hues is not the easiest thing to pull off, particularly if you’re not accustomed to donning lots of colour. If that’s the case you may wish to check out Elle Ukrain’s March 2011 issue; with Olga Serova’s shoot full of inspiration for ways to work in the season’s bold hues (all topped off by Prada’s boldly-soled wedges, of course).

Valentine's Day fashion 2012

1. Fashion of the Month clubs. At one time, there were only fruit or book of the month clubs. Now there are clubs with monthly mailings of jeans, shoes, shirts, socks, and even lingerie. So give the fashion gift that keeps on giving. And your sweetheart will have a reason to thank you every month.

2. High vibrational jewelry. Regular jewelry is so 20th century. The must-have jewelry this Valentine's Day is gemstones with high frequency vibrations. The idea is that everything on this earth, including stones is made up of atoms, which have vibrational energy. Some stones have higher vibrations, which reap benefits for the body and mind. Amethysts enhance clarity and insight. Citrine manifests your desires. Rose quartz strengthens love. And diamonds chase away unhappy emotions. But we already knew that.

3. Scarves. Clothes are so difficult to give, and not very romantic, for that matter. One of the few exceptions are scarves. There's a sensual, tactile quality to scarves. One can never have enough of them. They complete an outfit. And you can get romantic, snuggling closely as you put it around your loved one's neck. The top trend in scarves this season is the super-long scarf that can be wrapped around and around. They're chic and dramatic.

Prom Dress Trends 2012: Which Will Work for You and Which Will Work Against You?

Prom Dress Trends 2012: Which Will Work for You and Which Will Work Against You?

Fashion Week in New York, Milan and Paris brought us so many fresh dress designs and styles, we can hardly take it all in. We can't help but be mesmerized by the scrumptious textures, sheen, sparkles and sequins, not to mention the breathtaking colors. This year we noticed a whole palette of tertiary color mixtures we had never seen before; it was as if the designers were working with tubes of oil paints rather than the trusty Crayola 64 box. Some with names like Posuolli Earth and Pthalo Blue. Huh? But we loved them anyway, even if we can' t pronounce them!
Now that all the runway reports are in, thanks to our own Redcat, we can't wait to see what is in store for us when we head off to shop for our prom dress for the 2012 season. From the looks of it, my guess is we're going to be heading back to a more sophisticated look, dresses that take us back to the glamorous days of early Hollywood, where the men wore suits and the women wore gowns even during the day! That was glamour!
